Hello folks, well after a lengthy absence from DA I've finally got round to returning. I'm guessing a lot has changed in the 6 months I've been gone so there will be loads to catch up on - not least the 6000 images sitting in my inbox!
I've spent the time away trying to improve my image technique and ideas, and working on poetry writings which now accompany most of my works. Also became a senior artist at the online art collective SlashTHREE, with work featured in each of their last 3 exhibitions, and in the "real world" the prints sales side of things in galleries and online has progressed nicely. Most importantly it's given me time to get out shooting more and explore uncharted territory, plus review/delete/tweak some of my older stuff. Hope everyone is well, looking forward to getting reacquainted with ye all and seeing what you've been up to...
New Voice
so he came back again a new voice, the same name from the shadows he stepped and declared I have seen a new light and now stand ready to fight facing battle equipped and prepared
last time he stood here he was gripped by the fear that in darkness hed always remain but he came to realise whats important in life are the friends, not the fortune or fame
so time to upload new art new plans, a fresh start to the future! he toasts to the crowd amongst faces well known hes no longer alone saying I'm glad to be back, as he bowed
Calling all idle fingers, idle eyes and idle ears: may I present my latest black & white seascape music slideshow. I've matched a selection of my images with one of my absolute favourite pieces of music, and I'm pretty pleased with the result.
My first attempt at this was produced a few months ago, but this new version is much higher quality and includes a host of newer images. If you have fast enough broadband the video is available in High Definition. Hope you enjoy

Unfortunately I don't have time to do a feature this week, which I'm sure is a crushing disappointment, but my relentless promotion of Scotland will continue apace next week.
Continuing on from last week, this is the second part of the Scottish panoramic theme. When I pick out the images through search Im usually just concentrating on the images, rather than who took them, until the journals completed. Special mention then to *Meowgli who has managed to appear in the image selections for 5 weeks running, across the various themes. As I said to him previously, Im close to having to rename the feature This is Meowgli
Panoramic photography: the art of joining a series of images together to make a big long one. I tried doing a panorama a couple of years ago but I couldnt get the stitch lines to disappear without making a mess, and I think thats the key to a good panorama; make it look like a single image. And of course have an interesting subject to begin with. I think the Scottish landscape images below fit that brief pretty well, and I particularly like the idea of the vertical panoramas, not something Id considered before. I found quite a lot of these so Ill do the second part next week. I do hope you can contain your excitement.
Also a quick note to point you in the direction of the newly released artpack from the members of the SlashTHREE art community. Featuring an array of fantastic modern artwork, photography, audio and animation, its well worth a look. Read the dA news article here [link] and view the artpack here [link]
*Shameless self-promotion* - I have 3 images in the pack, including these:
